Former Mililani OL headed to Kansas

Former Mililani offensive lineman Andru Tovi, who made second team All-State as a senior in 2014, will play at Kansas this upcoming season. Tovi, who is 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, originally committed to Utah State out of high school before playing two seasons at Pima Community College. Polynesian Bowl names 2018 head coaches

The Polynesian Bowl announced this morning that Super Bowl winning coach Dick Vermeil and College Football Hall of Famer Terry Donahue will serve as the head coaches in the 2018 Polynesian Bowl next January at Aloha Stadium. Vermeil won a Super Bowl during his three years coaching the Saint Louis Rams from 1997 to ’99 and also served as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles (1976-82) and Kansas City Chiefs (2001-05). Saint Louis junior quarterback Chevan Cordeiro posted on his Twitter page Tuesday that he has received his first scholarship offer from Hawaii. Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel became the 12th different sophomore to already earn at least one scholarship offer from a Division I school on Monday. The 6-foot, 180-pound lefty-throwing QB for the Trojans announced on Twitter that he received a scholarship offer from coach Ken Niumatalolo at Navy. Hawaii Football Combine coming up May 20

Spring high school sports isn’t only about the various state tournaments going on. It’s also about football combines and spring football drills. Kenny Patton, the former University of Hawaii defensive back and now a fitness instructor specializing in football, will be holding the Hawaii Football Combine on May 20 at Saint Louis School. Two Kapolei defensive ends recently received Division I college football offers, according to Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez. Kukea Emmsley, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound senior-to-be, got an offer from Air Force. Treven Ma’ae, a 6-4, 220-pound junior-to-be who had six sacks last season, received an offer from Navy. “They are probably the best pair of DE’s we’ve had in a while,” Hernandez texted on Sunday night.
