Environmental assessment up next for McKinley

McKinley has a beautiful new football field to practice and scrimmage on. There is also a brand-new rubberized track that will host important track and field meets. But there is no stadium seating and no stadium lights — and thus no home football games. Help may be on the way. McKinley quarterback Alexandria Buchanan, who became the first female to throw a TD pass in a Hawaii high school football game on Saturday, made the top plays segment of ESPN’s SportsCenter tonight. Buchanan started in a 27-26 loss to Kalaheo and finished 7-for-16 for 135 yards with the one TD. Castle to play league home games after all

The Castle Knights got some good news despite a 41-7 football loss at No. 5 Kapolei last weekend. The Knights will play three home league games this season, according to Department of Education spokesperson Lindsay Chambers and Oahu Interscholastic League of Honolulu football coordinator Harold Tanaka. Defending BIIF champion Hilo makes its first appearance in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Football Top 10 released today. The Vikings, who are No. 10, had the week off following a 62-35 victory over ‘Iolani to open their season nine days ago. Running back Kahale Huddleston had 244 rushing yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries and returned kickoffs 87 and 99 yards for touchdowns in the win. Four teams from the mainland played Hawaii teams and three of the visiting teams (Mission Viejo, Calif.; Villa Park, Calif.; and St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) won.
