Hukilau Cafe, Beast 808 begin Pylon

Hukilau Cafe is off to a 3-0 start at the Pylon 7v7 tournament in Las Vegas today. Hukilau Cafe is 3-0 after defeating Team Utah Prospects 28-7, EAT 35-21 and Superior Edge 21-7. Beast808 is 2-1. After a ruling was handed down regarding the use of an ineligible player that ended Kahuku’s 2010 season, the Red Raiders bounced back the following season to win the 2011 state title under coach of the year Reggie Torres. Saint Louis swept everything in 1991 — winning its sixth straight Prep Bowl and the top honors on the Honolulu Advertiser All-State team. Offensive lineman Tasi Malepeai and quarterback Joel Lane were the lineman and back of the year, respectively. Cal Lee was the coach of the year. The Crusaders did lose a game this year — 28-21 to Punahou — but came back to beat the Buffanblu 45-20 in the rematch. The Honolulu Advertiser, which did an All-Oahu team in 1970 before going back to league all stars in 1971, put together its first All-State team in 1972. The passing of Carl Bryson hit home for family and friends stretching from Waimea on the Big Island to Maryland. Bryson was a stellar two-way Ironman during an amazing run by Hawaii Preparatory Academy during the 1990s. OIA and ILH officially announce agreement

The OIA and ILH officially announced today their historic football agreement in which both leagues will play interleague, regular-season games, starting in 2018. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser first reported the deal Feb. 13, but it did not become official until a vote by ILH principals Monday. Under the agreement, OIA and ILH teams will play a full slate of games against each other in three divisions — Open, Division I and D-II. The games will not count toward teams’ standings in […]

Farrington is one of 10 schools which will participate in the Polynesian Football Classic in Las Vegas on Sept. 7 and 8. The Governors will face Carson (Calif.) in one of four games on Sept. 8 at Liberty High School. ‘Iolani finished with the ILH championship, but McKinley had one more player selected to the league all-star team in 1968 by the Honolulu Advertiser. ‘Iolani senior linebacker John Parker was the only repeat selection from a year earlier and was the lineman of the year.
