Advancing is in Radford’s hands

By Nick Abramo on January 22, 2015

Amid the cacophony of the Radford High gym after the Rams’ 51-31 girls basketball win over Waianae on Thursday, coach Charles Chong said something his girls would be wise to listen to: “We could be a great team.” The emphasis, in this case, is on “could.” After seeing the team for the first time this season, this reporter can attest to the fact that Radford does just about everything well. One area they need work on is ball control. Now, […]

By Billy Hull on January 22, 2015

Girls-Basketball-DI-Varsity-Playoff-Bracket Girls-Basketball-DII-Varsity-Playoff-Bracket The top seeds in the OIA Red girls basketball playoffs are a pair of undefeated teams in Mililani (10-0) out of the West and Roosevelt (11-0) from the East. After that, it gets a little crazy. The Trojans had no problem finishing up the season with a 62-11 win over winless Waialua, which is the odd team out from the West in the OIA White playoffs. Green adds to Red Raiders’ depth

By Jason Kaneshiro on January 22, 2015

Kahuku was without point guard Alohi Gilman early in the OIA East season while he played in the Polynesian All-American Bowl and the All-State cornerback likely won’t be available to the basketball team for two more weeks after suffering an ankle injury in the all-star football game. While awaiting Gilman’s return, the Red Raiders added 6-foot-2 guard Tama Green to the backcourt rotation, bringing even more […]

By Nick Abramo on January 21, 2015

Coach Alika Smith was neither overjoyed nor disgruntled after No. 1 Kalaheo dispatched No. 8 Farrington 52-38 on Wednesday night at the Governors’ gym. Smith felt the Mustangs stayed within their game for most of the first three quarters before running into a locomotive in the fourth. Farrington put everything it had into a final-quarter rally, stealing the momentum and cutting what had been a 16-point Mustangs lead to eight, 40-32, with about three minutes to go. In that fourth […]
