Mililani alum Morikawa No. 2 QB at JSU

By Billy Hull on September 2, 2015

The most prolific high school quarterback to come out of Hawaii has another top-notch QB from the islands to mentor at Jackson State. Mililani alum Jarin Morikawa transferred from UNLV to Jackson State in the offseason and now plays under Saint Louis and University of Hawaii alum Timmy Chang, who is the Tigers’ offensive coordinator. Morikawa was listed No. 2 on the Jackson State depth chart for Saturday’s season opener against Middle Tennessee State. As a two-year starting quarterback at […]

Pride on the line for Punahou, Mililani

By Jerry Campany on September 1, 2015

As if there wasn’t enough pressure on Mililani and Punahou in representing Hawaii on the mainland, there is a little matter of upholding a streak. At least one Hawaii team has played a football game on the continental United States for the last four years and brought back a win. Mililani and Punahou will have a chance to extend the streak one more year when the state champion Trojans visit Liberty in Nevada on Friday and Punahou faces Del Oro […]

Kapolei’s Tagovailoa impressive in first start

By Nick Abramo on September 1, 2015

Apparently, one talented quarterback named Tagovailoa is not enough for the state of Hawaii. We all know about junior Tua Tagovailoa and his passing and rushing skills that he’s been putting on display for the No. 2 Saint Louis Crusaders since last season. Lesser known is his brother, Taulia Tagovailoa, who is only a freshman. He passed for a school-record 394 yards along with three touchdowns in the Hurricanes’ 67-21 loss to Mililani on Saturday night. Observations 101: Quick release, […]

Kailua up to No. 7 in Star-Advertiser Top 10

By Hawaii Prep World on August 31, 2015

There wasn’t a whole lot of movement in the latest Honolulu Star-Advertiser Football Media Top 10 poll released Monday. All 10 teams in last week’s poll remain ranked with the top six staying the same. Kailua, Waianae and Kapaa all jumped one spot with Kapolei slipping to No. 10. The Hurricanes, despite their 1-3 record, remained in the top 10, finishing one vote ahead of Radford and two votes better than both Moanalua and ‘Iolani. Nanakuli also received a vote. […]

York: Oregon tells Milton to be patient

By Nick Abramo on August 31, 2015

One really refreshing thing about quarterback McKenzie Milton is that he is the farthest thing from a publicity hound. As a matter of fact, he is so low-key and easy-going and blends in so well with all of his Trojans teammates that he is sometimes hard to find after games. Well, part of that has to do with Mililani’s white numerals on a yellow jersey. Still, Milton wearing his No. 13, is usually standing with about four or five other […]

VIDEO: Moanalua vs. #6 Farrington

By Paul Honda on August 30, 2015

Moanalua and Farrington showed a penchant for running the ball. No surprise at Farrington, but Moanalua? Michael Feliciano had been a rushing-yardage machine early in the season. On this night, however, defenses locked down the two running backs, leaving the jet streams above to Farrington QB Bishop Rapozo and Moanalua QB Alakai Yuen. The two combined for nearly 700 passing yards as Farrington rallied for a 42-35 win.
