Campbell head coach Michael Hermosura was watching the late game with keen interest Thursday night at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. San Diego State, which played here in the Hawaii Bowl last December and currently has three players on the roster from Hawaii, jumped into the recruiting fray in the islands this week, handing out offers to a pair of Kahuku players. Mililani senior Aubree Kim threw a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts and the Trojans advanced to the semifinals of the DataHouse/HHSAA Division I Softball Championship with a 6-0 win over third-seeded Maui today at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The opening day of the DataHouse/HHSAA Division I Softball Championship served as testament to the strength and depth of the OIA West. Of the division’s seven teams, five will be among the eight playing in the state tournament’s quarterfinal round on Wednesday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Ohata earns boys soccer Gatorade honor

Punahou senior goalkeeper Tyler Ohata was named the 2015-16 Gatorade Hawaii Boys Soccer Player of the Year on Tuesday. Ohata is the fifth Punahou soccer player to win the award. He led the Buffanblu to a 12-0-3 record and a state championship this past season. He allowed just two goals all season and posted back-to-back shutouts in the state semifinals and final.
