Punahou duo, Sarono added to Polynesian Bowl

Punahou quarterback Nick Kapule and wide receiver Ethan Takeyama, along with Kapolei receiver Jaymin Sarono, have all accepted invites to play in the Polynesian Bowl on Jan. 21, 2017, at Aloha Stadium. The bowl game will announce the additions on Tuesday. Kapule (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) finished the season completing 60 percent (177-for-295) of his passes for 2,798 yards and 31 touchdowns with nine interceptions. Waianae and Saint Louis renew rivalry

Waianae and Saint Louis have a knack for meeting in inaugural events. When the Prep Bowl was instituted in 1973, legendary Waianae coach Larry Ginoza led the Seariders to a 6-0 win over the Crusaders in the first of eight meetings between the schools in the annual OIA-ILH postseason classic.
