Epenesa stands out in Polynesian Bowl

By Billy Hull on January 22, 2017

There was little doubt after the inaugural Polynesian Bowl on Saturday night at Aloha Stadium that the defensive lines of both teams were the dominant group. At one point, Team Mariota lined up a threesome of Aliki Vimahi (Kahuku), Nakoa Pauole (Kamehameha) and Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa (Kapolei), who combined for five tackles for loss and played a big role in holding Team Stanley to 38 total yards rushing. The only problem was, 38 yards rushing was an explosion compared to what […]

Not a lot to see last week in the OIA, except for Campbell’s Micah Tynanes staying sharp, Jayson Pagurayan of Kapolei keeping busy while other wrestlers rest and Trison Santos of Campbell rounding into form at 126 pounds. Here are last week’s OIA results: 106: Triston Baron of Roosevelt beat Farrington’s Leonardo Nunez twice, once by fall and the other by 16-7 major decision. 113: Hunter Nagatani of Waipahu and Troy Weilbacher of Waianae matched up twice, with Nagatani winning […]

Kahuku’s Alo adds 138 class to haul

By Jerry Campany on January 20, 2017

Kahuku’s Teniya Alo wrestled at 132 last week and was as dominant as ever with no obvious effects from the physical match she encountered with Radford’s Angela Peralta the week before. She never intended on staying at 145 and sources say she will wrestle at either 127 or 132, whichever provides the most competitive bracket. Alo, who wrestled at 122 last year, won Officials in December at 127. Here are all of last week’s results: 97: Allicia Mahoe of Kapolei […]

By Nick Abramo on January 19, 2017

Silva was the head coach at Roosevelt from 2009 through 2011, where he went 6-26. He was also the head coach at Castle in 1995 and 1996, going 15-6-1 […]
