Kahuku’s Reed commits to Virginia

Kahuku defensive lineman Samson Reed gave his oral commitment to Virginia on Monday, according to the StreakingTheLawn.com website. Reed is a 3-star recruit and is rated the No. 1 recruit in Hawaii by ESPN. He also has offers from Hawaii, Washington State, BYU, Fresno State, Nevada, San Diego State and UNLV. Pac-Five to hold athletics fundraiser

Pac-Five will be holding an athletic fundraiser at Rumours in the Ala Moana Hotel on July 15 from 3-8 p.m. Guest must be 21 and over. Pupus, entertainment, raffles and an auction will be held. In addition, the 1985 Pac-Five football team from 1985 and several individual athletic contributors through the years will be inducted into the Pac-Five hall of honor. Hawaii Prep’s Higgins is Gatorade POY

Hawaii Prep’s Emi Higgins was named as the Gatorade Hawaii Player of the Year in girls soccer this week. The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field. The 5-foot-9 sophomore forward and midfielder led Ka Makani to an 11-2-2 record and the Division II state championship in 2017. OIA weekend-only football schedule is here

The latest Oahu Interscholastic Assocition football schedule is out. As with all schedules, it’s subject to change. The version listed below reflects weekly games being moved from Wednesdays through Saturdays to Fridays and Saturdays only. The changes are due to an agreement made by the OIA and the Oahu Football Officials Association last week.
