Boys hoops tourney scores through Nov. 27

Looking for boys basketball tournament and preseason scores? Click here for scores through Nov. 27. Got a score for a preseason or tournament game not listed or an upcoming game or tournament that is not shown, please email hawaiiprepworld@staradvertiser.com . Three boys tournaments are scheduled this week: the James Alegre Invitational at Radford, the Surfriders Holiday Classic at Kailua, and the Keaau-Waiakea Boys Basketball Tournament at the two sites in the title.

There are three girls basketball tournaments scheduled for this week: the Orthopedic Associates Sacred Hearts Invitational, the Ka Makani Girls Basketball Tip-off Classic at Hawaii Prep, and the Kapaa Goodwill Tournament.

Saint Louis still climbing in national rankings

It has been 10 days since Saint Louis won its second consecutive state championship with a 31-28 win over Kahuku on Aloha Stadium. Although it marked the end of the prep football season in Hawaii, it has not marked the end of football nationwide. Most people will remember Jonah Panoke‘s touchdown catch from quarterback Chevan Cordeiro that gave Saint Louis a 31-28 victory over Kahuku in the Open Division championship game Nov. 18. That play, in which Panoke wrestled the ball from Kahuku’s Alex Fonoimoana-Vaomu in midair before crossing the goal line, happened with 37 seconds to go. Now more than ever, volleyball talent in Hawaii resides in the ILH. Oahu’s private-school league garnered 12 of the 15 players on the Star-Advertiser’s season-ending All-State team, tying the record it held in 2015 and 2008. The fewest ILH players on the Fab 15, which began in the Star-Bulletin in 2007, was eight in 2013. So the ILH has always had more than half of the representation.
