Leilehua wrestling coach Kevin Corbett and assistant Corey Taniguchi have been named the 2018 coach and assistant coach of the year for Hawaii by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Akiona will not return to coach Mililani girls soccer

Ray Akiona has stepped down as girls soccer coach at Mililani. Akiona made the decision official on Friday, ending a 17-year run with the program that began with two seasons as an assistant before taking over as head coach for the last 15 years. Under Akiona, the Trojans won nine OIA titles (2004, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018) and earned one state Division I title (2015). Saint Louis teammates Jordan Botelho and Matt Sykes have made 247Sports’ first recruiting rankings for the class of 2020. Botelho, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound inside linebacker, is listed as the 114th overall prospect and the third-best inside linebacker. Sunday, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser will release its boys basketball All-State Fab 15 selections, marking the 40th consecutive year a newspaper has put out an All-State team in boys basketball dating back to the Honolulu Advertiser’s 1978 squad.
