What? ILH judoka wants to lose to learn

By Nick Abramo on March 23, 2018

Losing is not the American way. Everybody loves a winner, right? True. And Charlize Jasmine Pascual-Tabuyo is a winner. She hasn’t lost nationally or in Hawaii in judo since 2013. So, how hard will the following statement be to wrap around one’s brain? “For me, I don’t look for the win or the loss,” she said. “If I lose . . . I think I’d rather lose than win because I learn from my mistakes.” Bingo. Winning is the American […]

Sunday, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser will release its All-State soccer selections, marking the 20th consecutive year a newspaper has put out an All-State team dating back to the Honolulu Advertiser’s 1998 squads. As we did with basketball, we have put together the newspaper clippings from past All-State teams. PREVIOUS […]

Leave it to an experienced, cagey Maryknoll squad to change momentum. The Lady Spartans rallied from a 4-0 deficit to stun No. 1 Kamehameha 7-6 on a cool, overcast afternoon at Sand Island. Nohea Hee, […]
