Mililani’s Gabriel named Polynesian Bowl All-Star

Mililani quarterback Dillon Gabriel has been selected to participate in the 2019 Polynesian Bowl. Gabriel, a 6-foot, 190-pound lefty, is the state’s leading passer this season with 1,063 yards and 14 touchdowns with a 58-percent (69-for-119) completion percentage and no interceptions in four games. Through 31 career games over his four-year varsity career, Gabriel has thrown for 7,164 yards and 81 touchdowns and is closing in on the state’s all-time career passing mark. Including the University of Hawaii, more than 100 players who graduated from high school in Hawaii are on FBS rosters this season. But that’s not all in Division I. Polynesian Bowl Hawaii selections begin Thursday

The third annual Polynesian Bowl high school football all-star game will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at Aloha Stadium. Former Oregon Ducks head coach Mike Bellotti and former Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn will serve as head coaches. More than 80 players have already been selected to the game. Wednesday’s Honolulu Star-Advertiser will feature a full-page section on Division I FBS football players from Hawaii who began their seasons last weekend. The top two spots in the first Honolulu Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball Top 10 of the season were not a surprise.
