Three-time defending Hawaii state champion Saint Louis (11-0) ends the 2018 prep football season ranked No. 7 in the country in the final MaxPreps Xcellent 25. The football season ended on the mainland with North Shore (Tex.) winning the 6A D-I state championship on a game-winning TD pass on the final play of the game against Duncanville to finish as the MaxPreps national champion. Tua to attend Polynesian Bowl festivities

Polynesian Bowl officials confirmed this weekend that Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was named the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year, will attend the Hall of Fame dinner the night before the 2019 Polynesian Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Aloha Stadium. Tagovailoa will also be able to watch his brother, Taulia, play in the all-star game as one of six quarterbacks listed on the latest official roster. Isaiah Stewart saved his best for last. The 6-foot-9 senior had 24 points and 13 rebounds, plus two blocks in La Lumiere’s 72-58 win over Oak Ridge (Fla.) on Saturday night. The drama on the final night of the ‘Iolani Prep Classic took an unusual twist this time. In the end, La Lumiere, from La Porte, Ind. hoisted the koa trophy. La Lumiere ran the table with a 4-0 mark to capture the Classic championship. There was no denying these Lakers from La Lumiere, Ind. Especially their twin towers. Isaiah Stewart, their 6-foot-9 rim protector, scored 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, and 6-8 Keion Brooks added 17 points and six boards as No. 6 La Lumiere overpowered No. 20 Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.) 72-58 to claim at least part of the ‘Iolani Prep Classic championship on Saturday night.
