Anderson signed with Hawaii during his senior year at Saint Louis but ended up at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix instead. Now as a senior at Texas-Arlington, Anderson was the subject of Wednesday’s Hawaii Grown feature in the Star-Advertiser, which can be read here. “When I […]

By Paul Honda on April 9, 2019

The pain shot through Jaeda Cabunoc’s back, one pitch at a time. On a sunny, windy, dusty afternoon at Kaiser’s softball field, the Roosevelt ace did what she could to focus on the task at hand. She delivered again, leading No. 3 Roosevelt to a 3-2 comeback win over Kaiser. The Rough Riders are 11-0 in the OIA East with one game left before the playoffs. Since the start of the season, the senior right-hander has dealt with increased pain […]

1-ON-1: Eric Kadooka opens up on stepping down at Maryknoll

By Nick Abramo on April 9, 2019

Eric Kadooka made a stunning, seemingly out-of-the-blue decision last week, leaving his position as baseball coach at Maryknoll. But he did it after lots of reflection on the state of the program he was running. The Spartans were 4-9 in the ILH when he departed. “I don’t blame anybody, but I felt that if I removed myself from the situation, it would give another coach a chance to see if they can make that connection,” said Kadooka, who won seven […]

The rise up the sport’s ladder was sudden. Slaughter was afraid when he tried out for club volleyball before his sophomore year, thinking he might not be good enough. Soon, though, he paid his dues and is now one of the best players in the state. He was featured in […]

By Billy Hull on April 9, 2019
