Oahu trip has Honokaa Dragons on fire

By Paul Honda on December 2, 2015

They were in black Under Armour shirts and tan khaki shorts. The Honokaa Dragons had just opened their week-long visit to Oahu. After a 69-57 win over host Roosevelt, the team shook hands with the Rough Riders, disappeared from the gym and emerged in their post-game outfits. They looked very much like a cohesive unit. Not quite a military squadron, but very streamlined on and off the court. These are not the usual 21st-century Honokaa Dragons, who have been competitive, […]

The Pupule Barnstorming Tour resumes this lovely (a little rain, a little sunshine) with an awesome inter-league, preseason matchup at Richard Kitamura Fieldhouse. I’ll blog as long as my phone battery holds out. It’s on 66 percent. It’s been only one week or so since coaches made their roster cuts. Very few teams look sharp this early in the season. It’s not even December yet. But ‘Iolani has some horses back and Dean Shimamoto continues to be one of the […]

Caroline Tatupu is the new Farrington varsity girls basketball coach, Governors athletic director Harold Tanaka confirmed Monday. Tatupu was previously the Govs girls basketball coach before downgrading to assistant coach for a few seasons and then taking a break all of last season.
