By Paul Honda Chapter 1 of Kamehameha’s title defense is underway, and not even a former hoops prince could overthrow the king. Micah Christenson amassed 24 points, including 10 in the pivotal final quarter, as Kamehameha outlasted Punahou 58-55 in the final of the Jim Alegre Invitational Thursday night. Maryknoll Community Center opens!

After years in the making — or planning — Maryknoll School finally has a gym of its own. At a cost of $21 million, according to athletic director Pattie Heatherly, the Maryknoll Community Center serves several purposes. The girls volleyball team will be the first athletic squad to use the facility for a league event when they play tomorrow.
