By Edward Jackson Kapolei’s girls earned state title victories in both the individual and team categories, energized by exceptional bowling on the part of Raelena Mattos. The senior kept pace with her competition on day two, holding off the challenge of Kalaheo’s Tammi Sakaguchi in the three-game set to win the girls individual title. . Hawaii Baptist’s boys team leads the state bowling championship with a pinfall of 5,139. Mililani is in the runner-up spot, 121 pins behind. Individually, Hawaii Baptist’s Jason Goto leads with 1,159 pins followed by Maryknoll’s Keenan Kurihara (1136), Baldwin’s Corey Gushikuma (1,124), Mililani’s Wayne Miyashiro (1,120) and Austin Patacsil (1,112) of Kailua. Maryknoll will send both its boys and girls bowling teams to next week’s state tournament at the Schofield Bowling Center. The Spartans girls won the ILH by one game over Punahou, going 32-7 with a 731 average. University finished two games behind Punahou for the other state spot.
