Kailua senior Stone Parker was chosen as the Gatorade Hawaii baseball player of the year, the Gatorade Company announced today. The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher and first baseman posted a 6-1 record with a 0.69 earned run average on the mound. The state champion Baldwin baseball team rose six spots in the USA Today Super 25 rankings, moving into the No. 10 spot. The Bears, who beat Waiakea for the state title, moved up from No. 16.
