
With the Star-Advertiser’s 2018 All-State baseball team coming out on Sunday, we are looking back at some of the greats of the past. In this installment, we look to the stars of the 2000s.
The decade began with the miracle Farmers of Molokai and ended with an unprecedented run of dominance by Punahou, which won seven titles in a row.
Familiar names to look for include Brandon League of Saint Louis, Kamehameha’s Bronson Sardinha, Baldwin catcher Kurt Suzuki, Mid-Pacific’s Ricky Bauer, Iolani’s Kila Kaaihue, Keoni Ruth of Kamehameha, Punahou’s Mark Veneri, Mid-Pacific’s Harry Kuroda, Kirby Yates of Kauai, Punahou’s Jared Pate and Jeeter Ishida, Kolten Wong of KS-Hawaii and Breland Almadova of Iolani.
