Maryknoll’s Sage Tolentino, Kohala’s O’shen Cazimero earn top awards for HHSAA all-tournament teams

The all-tournament teams in Division I and Division II in the Snapple/HHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships were released tonight. Kohala won its first state crown with 51-48 win over Roosevelt while Maryknoll handed Kamehameha its first loss of the season in the D-I final, 46-33. The Warriors played without senior Christmas Togiai, who still made the all-tournament team. Togiai suffered a knee injury late in a semifinal win over Kahuku. This past weekend was opening day for nearly every Division I college baseball team. Punahou sweeps team titles without winning an individual event at state swimming championships

Note: This story appeared in Sunday’s edition of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. For the fifth year in a row, Punahou swept the team titles in the K. Mark Takai/HHSAA Swimming State Championships on Saturday on Maui. The Buffanblu didn’t have an individual event winner on either side but swept the boys and girls 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay events. The Snapple/HHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships begin Wednesday with four first-round games in Division I. League champions won’t begin their tournament until Wednesday with No. 1 Kamehameha securing the No. 1 overall seed with a 38-29 win over Maryknoll on Wednesday night at Kekuha’upio Gym.
