After breaking a school record for points scored in a single game in an 83-0 rout of Radford, Kahuku remained at No. 17 in the latest USA Today Super 25 rankings heading into Saturday’s tilt against No. 1 Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas.

The Gaels remained No. 1 in the country after beating then-No. 7 St. John Bosco (Calif.) 35-20 on Saturday. QB Tate Martell, an Ohio State commit, was 7-for-15 for 183 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 111 yards and another score.

A week after holding Campbell to negative yardage for an entire game, Kahuku held Radford to just two total yards and has not given up a point in the last 14 quarters. Senior Stokes Nihipali-Botelho, who was voted USA Today’s Super 25 Star last week, scored on an interception return and a punt return.

The Red Raiders also broke into the Max Preps Xcellent top 25 rankings for the first time all season on Monday, checking in at No. 24. Bishop Gorman is also No. 1 in that poll.

    I acknowledge that Kahuku is King of Football in Hawaii and I hope they pull an upset. As I go through the forums everyone is saying that BG will experience true smash mouth football, but what about Kahuku? They will see what real speed is like at the skilled positions and their defense will see a team that can truly pass the ball. I watched BG’s highlights against the top teams from TX and CA and their WR’s was smoking the corners.

    So before the backlash from the Homers begin, let’s not talk last year’s Kahuku team, because I think last year’s D was special and they could have stopped anyone.

    To all the Adults on these blogs, you can learn a lot from da boys that actually gonna play da game, none of them on here talking smack or degrading anyone. They all are remaining humble and staying focused!! And to da boys that are actually really playing da game, just give it your best! No matter the outcome, atleast you know you did your best!! That’s the only thing that matters, leave it all on da field..and to all the Adults, maybe it’s time to start acting like one… Good luck Boys!!! Go Big RED!!!

    @Chloropicrin
    Kahuku gonna have to find a way to counter that speed, not only that the QB got some wheels of his own and also runs the read option really well, and ya you are right, last years D had a lot more speed and power in a lot of positions compared to this years! But as someone pointed out in an earlier post, their best defense gonna be their offense! Keeping their offense off the field as much as possible, an offense can’t score if they are on the sideline…

    @Auwe I agree, if the Big Red can create turnovers on D and sustain drives get chance. I’m afraid of BG scoring quick and getting ahead, olaying behind with the smash mouth is tough, that’s when BG could capitalize by putting the game in Maiava’s hand. Whatever the outcome it’s a good learning experience for the Big Red and the state, because the talk around the water cooler all week has been this game. Kahuku putting Hawaii football on the map regardless of the outcome.

    Totally agree, hard to play catch up with da running game, and yeah definitely a good learning experience for sure. I’m a RR4L but I also call it like I see it. Kahuku got a huge task ahead of them and wish them all da best!! Go Big Red!!!

    Red Raiders academics is all about studying the tapes of BG’s recent games; not only once or twice but until every player understands their assignment whether on offense, defense, or special team whereas it’s all about game strategy, game assignments, and most important it’s about hitting their target whereas being in the right place and on the right opponent at the precise time; this is academic athlete assignment and it’s always rewarding regardless the outcome yet heartfelt prayers that both team experience zero game injuries. Enjoy RR4L

    You guys are saying Kahuku going win straight up. First of all:

    1) Do you even have $5 let along $5000?
    2) If I post my cell # how will you contact me since you don’t own a cell or home phone. Will you borrow your mom’s?

    So like i said earlier post your info on here and I will get by buddy in Vegas to reach out to you. Straight up, no spread.

    I love how I call you guys out and then you turn it around back on me. That is neither original nor inventive.

    I am not the one on here making ridiculous comments like Kahuku is going to win. If anyone is scared son, it’s you. I 100% guarantee you will not even make a $2 bet on Kahuku to win straight up.

    I know, I know, $2 is your dinner money. But sometimes gotta take 1 risk eh?
