‘Iolani senior receiver Keoni-Kordell Makekau left last Friday’s 35-23 loss to Punahou early in the first quarter with a shoulder injury and is “day-to-day” according to ‘Iolani coach Wendell Look.
Makekau was on the receiving end of the first two completed passes thrown by quarterback Tai-John Mizutani when he took a hit near the ‘Iolani sideline to his shoulder. He left the game and had his pads off by the second quarter and didn’t return.
Makekau currently leads the ILH with 31 receptions in four league games and has totaled 548 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the entire season.
The 5-foot-10, 168-pound senior who doubles as a place-kicker currently sits fifth on the all-time receiving list for Oahu schools with 2,288 yards and 21 touchdowns in 30 career games.
Makekau has been offered Division I scholarships by Hawaii, Navy and Washington State and remains uncommitted.
The Raiders play No. 2 Saint Louis on Friday night at Aloha Stadium. The Crusaders won the first meeting this year 28-17.
