GAME NIGHT 9/9: Waianae/Radford

9:24: 47-15 is your final. Waianae improves to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in OIA Blue play, while Radford drops to 1-4, 1-3)

9:18: Radford goes three-and-out and will punt with 2:13 left.

9:11: Francis Kilioni recovers a fumble 11 yards into the end zone for Waianae, and they’re just pouring it on at this point. Ebel’s PAT is good, 47-15 with 3:32 left.

9:07: Kenneth Joseph Jr. takes a handoff for a 5-yard score. Ebel’s PAT is good. The Waianae lead is now 40-15 with 4:16 left.

9:05: The Seariders convert and are milking down the clock, using a bevy of rushers to wear down the Radford defense. Even Mauga has received a carry for a gain of eight yards. First-and-goal from the Radford 5 with 4:22 to go.

8:59: Waianae faces fourth-and-2 from the Radford 39 and calls timeout with 7:07 left. Gotta think that they’ll run it here and continue to do so if they convert.

8:56: Seariders will take over from the Radford 46 after a failed onside kick.

8:53: The Rams aren’t done yet. Garrison hauls in a 13-yard pass from Wright. Taias Savea catches the two-point conversion from Wright, cutting the Waianae lead to 33-15 with 9:33 to go.

8:46: Kaleiohi takes a handoff 23 yards TO THE HOUSE and that might do it. They fake the PAT and don’t convert. Waianae up 33-7 with 11:15 to go.

FOURTH QUARTER

8:42: End of the third. Waianae faces third-and-long on the Radford 40 to start the fourth.

8:37: Radford goes three-and-out on offense again, Waianae will take over from its own 46 with 2:56 left in the third.

8:31: The Seasiders decide to kick, and Ebel’s 23 yard field goal is good. He’s looking like one of the better kickers in the state today. 27-7 with 4:51 left in the third.

8:29: Waianae calls timeout with 4:59 left in the quarter facing fourth-and-three from the Radford 6.

8:22: The Rams pick up a first down but not much after. They fake a punt and don’t convert. Waianae takes over on the Radford 28.

8:14: TOUCHDOWN WAIANAE. Jeris Oliveros with a 16-yard score on a reverse sweep. Ebel’s PAT is good. 24-7 with 10:45 left in the third.

8:10: Waianae to start from Radford’s 40 after a nice return by Skyler Kaleiohi.

THIRD QUARTER


7:49: A couple of short gains to end the half for the Seasiders and they’ll go into halftime up 17-7. They’ll also receive to start the second half.

7:44: Wright throws an incomplete pass and the Seariders take over with 28 seconds remaining.

7:43: Radford is facing fourth-and-2 at the Waianae 23 with 35 seconds left in the half.

7:34: FUMBLE. Kyle Sudog recovers it at the Waianae 45 and the Rams are back in business with 3:57 left in the half.

7:31: Waianae forces another three-and-out with 4:55 left in the half.

7:26: TOUCHDOWN SEARIDERS. Rosario takes a handoff on the 10 and shifts his way into the end zone. Ebel’s PAT is good. Waianae leads 17-7 with 5:58 left to go in the half.

7:21: Waianae is driving, now on the Radford 18 facing third-and-2 with 7:26 left in the half.

7:12: RADFORD IS ON THE BOARD. Randy Wright and Cameron Copeland connect for a 14-yard touchdown. Impressive coverage on Copeland, but Wright’s throw was on the money. Robert Garrison‘s PAT is good. 10-7, 11:26 to go in the half.

SECOND QUARTER

7:06: End of the first. Radford will have the ball at the Waianae 28 to start the second quarter.

6:55: TOUCHDOWN WAIANAE. Kanai Mauga with a 71-yard Pick 6, it seems like he’s doing something each game to state his case for defensive POY. Ebel’s PAT is good. 10-0, 3:27 left in the first.

6:48: Waianae is on the board first after a Tate Ebel field goal from 25 yards out that had plenty of leg on it, 5:16 left in the quarter.

6:46: Rico Rosario appears to have ran it in for a 3-yard touchdown but it’s negated by a holding call.

6:40: Dominating first defensive possession for Waianae. Three straight losses for the Rams and the Seariders will take over from the Radford 28.

6:35: Waianae wins the coin toss and will defer.

FIRST QUARTER

6:19 p.m.: Both teams are almost done with warmups and kickoff should be on schedule. Waianae won the JV game 22-0.

NOTES: Radford hasn’t beat Waianae since 1983, a streak of 11 games. Waianae’s only loss on Radford’s field was in 2012 against Farrington. Waianae is 7-0 when it has a rusher go over 100 yards against Radford. Ken Niumatalolo was the last Radford quarterback to beat Waianae on Radford’s field.
