GAME NIGHT 9/28: Kalaheo/St. Francis

7:24: St. Francis forces one last three-and-out and takes a knee to end the game. 40-6 is your final. The Saints improve to 7-0, while Kalaheo drops to 2-6.


7:17: St. Francis getting sloppy with three straight fumbles. The third one is finally recovered by the Mustangs’ Jordan Neufeldt on the Kalaheo 21 with 3:29 left.

7:02: Kekahuna picks off Kalaheo quarterback Kekoa Alana for a 55-yard pick six. The PAT is no good, holding off the running clock. St. Francis leads 40-6 with 11:39 left in the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER

6:55: St. Francis answers right back with a Jonan Aina-Chaves 21-yard rushing touchdown. He’s at 15 carries for 144 yards thus far. Poole punches it in for two and the Saints lead 34-6 with 1:02 left in the third.

6:48: Kalaheo gets on the board after Jonah Aina-Chaves’ throws a backwards incomplete pass. After some slight confusion after no whistle being blown, Jaden Amasiu scoops it up and takes it 23 yards to the house. Kalaheo goes for two but can’t convert. The Saints’ lead is now 26-6 with 1:39 left in the third.

6:44: Saints take over from their own 9 after forcing another Kalaheo punt, 2:42 left in the third.

6:34: Jonah Aina-Chaves drops a DIME to Kekahuna for a 34-yard touchdown. Bad snap on the PAT and the Saints fall on their own fumble. The lead is now 26-0 with 5:27 left in the third.

6:25: Kalaheo forces a quick three-and-out and takes over from its own 14 after a St. Francis punt.

6:22: St. Francis starts its first drive of the second half from the Kalaheo 46.

THIRD QUARTER

6:05: St. Francis drives down the field to end the first half, but decide to kick it at the Kalaheo 9 with about five seconds left in the second quarter. Poole’s second field goal of the day is good from 26 yards and the Saints enter halftime with a 20-0 lead. STF will also receive to start the second half.

5:51: Kalaheo picks up a first down but not much after. St. Francis takes over from its 50. On the first play of its next drive, Bubba Akana throws a simple checkdown to Jonan Aina-Chaves, but he takes it all the way to the end zone. Kekahuna can’t score on the two-point attempt but the Saints lead 17-0 with 2:32 left in the half.


5:43: St. Francis receiver Chase Akana drops what would have been a 34-yard touchdown from brother Bubba, but the Saints recover and drive down the field to score anyway. Jonan Aina-Chaves caps off the drive with a 13-yard rushing touchdown. He’s now up to 46 yards on eight carries. Shepherd Kekahuna punches in the two-point conversion to give the Saints an 11-0 lead with 7:31 left in the half.

5:33: St. Francis forces another three-and-out and will start its next drive from the Kalaheo 39, 10:27 left in the second quarter,

SECOND QUARTER

5:30: St. Francis leads 3-0 after the first. Kalaheo faces second-and-9 from its own 25 to start the second quarter.

5:29: The Saints are on the board after Makana Poole‘s 30-yard field goal with 10 seconds left in the first quarter.

5:21: The game has been a defensive struggle so far, as St. Francis forces another Kalaheo three-and-out. The Saints take over from midfield with 3:58 left in the first.

5:18: St. Francis turns it over on downs in the red zone. Kalaheo takes over from its own 18.

5:15: Sione Lolohea simply SNATCHES the ball away from a Kalaheo ballcarrier and the Saints take over at the Mustangs’ 21.

5:12: The Saints go three-and-out on their first drive and elect to punt from the Kalaheo 42. Poole’s punt goes into the end zone and the Mustangs take over from their own 20 with 8:21 left in the first.

5:05: Jaden Amasiu takes the opening kickoff to his own 17. The Mustangs run the ball three times for a net total of one yard. St. Francis will start from the Kalaheo 35 after a nice punt return by Makana Poole with 10:14 left in the first.

5:03 p.m.: St. Francis wins the toss and will defer to the second half. Kalaheo will receive to start things off.
