GAME NIGHT 8/13: Campbell/Farrington

Six games are on tap Saturday night on Oahu while both St. Francis and Kamehameha hit the neighbor islands for nonleague contests.

The Farrington Governors make their season debut against the Campbell Sabers, who were shut out 38-0 by Kapolei last week. Farrington has won the last nine meetings against the Sabers with Campbell’s last win in the series coming in 2001 when Prentiss Anderson caught a 41-yard touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score in a 34-12 win.

Kickoff is set for around 5:30 p.m. at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium. Live updates will follow:

9:48 — Tautolo recovers fumble in the backfield and Farrington takes over at the Campbell 29 with 1:30 left. Uahinui takes a knee twice and this one is over.

9:44 — Rapoza throws a 14-yard touchdown pass to Moses-Sanchez, who now has eight catches for 146 yards and two TDs. PAT wide. Govs stretch the lead to 34-14, 2:11 Q4.

9:38 — Tanu Tautolo comes up with Farrington’s second blocked punt of the night and Faasisina Masalosalo returns it to the Campbell 20 with 3:30 left.

9:30 — Farrington has gone three-and-out on its last possessions. Campbell is now on a 14-play drive extended by two fourth-down conversions. But the Sabers come up empty when Ah Ching intercepts a pass into the end zone on fourth-and-goal with 6:19 left.

9:11 — Farrington 28, Campbell 14, end third quarter. Governors ball at their 29 to start the fourth.

9:00 — Farrington fumbles deep in its own territory and Campbell recovers at the 14. Two plays later, Ulufale scores on a 6-yard keeper. PAT is good. Sabers trail 28-14, 5:08 Q3.

8:53 — Campbell’s first possession of the third quarter ends with Isaiah Taumua’s second interception of the game. Govs forced to punt but the snap is high and Campbell takes over at the Farrington 13. Campbell can’t convert and gives the ball back on downs.

8:21 — Halftime, Farrington 28, Campbell 7. Uahinui 5-6-0-97 2 TDs. Rapoza 7-7-0-105 TD. Moses-Sanchez 6 rec, 123 yds, TD. Challen Faamatau 14 carries, 31 yds; 3 rec, 49 yds TD.

8:09 — A miscue on the kickoff gives Campbell possession at the Govs’ 43. Kawika Ulufale leads a seven-play drive which he caps with a 3-yard TD run. PAT good and Campbell is on the board down 28-7, 1:46 Q2.

7:56 — After an interception by Isaiah Taumua, Uahinui completes a deep ball to Kingston Moses-Sanchez for a 60-yd TD. Kick failed but Campbell flagged for roughing the kicker. Pass falls incomplete.  Farrington 28-0, 4:38 Q2.

7:50 — Rapoza and Uahinui combine to complete their first nine passes before their first miss. Rapoza promptly rolls to his left and finds Challen Faamatau for a 33-yd TD. Christian Jay Acorda fumbles the PAT snap but runs it in for 2. Govs lead 22-0.

7:38 — Ah Ching breaks up a pass on fourth and goal, but Farrington gives it back on a fumble after a 16-yard completion. Campbell ball at the Govs 35. 10:20 Q2.

7:31 — Campbell punts again, but the return is fumbled and the Sabers recover at the Farrington 25. First quarter ends with the Sabers facing third and goal at the 6. Farrington leads 14-0.

7:21 — Farrington’s drive is aided by two Campbell penalties. Uahinui throws a 5 yd TD pass to Reginald Faamatau, PAT wide. Govs lead 14-0, 3:00 Q1.
