GAME NIGHT 8/12: Kaimuki 63, Waialua 0, F

They met to open the 2016 OIA season and played a classic with Kaimuki winning 22-20 in overtime. Waialua got its revenge in the OIA playoffs, ending the Bulldogs’ season in the semifinals with a 19-14 win. What’s in store to open 2017?

Dozens of players out, it appears, for Waialua. Kaimuki is primed to have its best season under David Tautofi. Not a deep team, but the starters on both sides of the ball are playing at championship level.

The Bulldogs pound away at the line of scrimmage and drive 63 yards in five plays, all on the ground. Asuega-Fualaau turns the corner for a 25-yard gain to the 1. Next play, Solomon pitches to Asuega-Fualaau for an easy 1-yard TD.

The Bulldogs are stifling Waialua’s offense. Another three and out, punt and Kaimuki’s Naomas Asuega-Fualaau returns it 64 yards to the house. Matthan Hatchie blocks the PAT.

Running back Ieke Seei-Cleveland is on fire, running left and cutting back against the grain for a 39-yard TD.


Another stop by Kaimuki’s defense, but the offense turns the ball over despite moving the ball well. Solomon’s deep pass is picked off by Waialua QB/S Tevesi Toia.

The Bulldogs drive 53 yards in just four plays. A 40-yard pass by Jordan Solomon to Cliff Antrone sparked the march, and Solomon ran in from 14 yards out.
