GAME NIGHT 11/2: Farrington/Campbell

8:09: Game over.

8:06: It’s fourth down and 10 from the 14 for the Govs. 20 seconds left. Tagataese’s pass goes in and out of the hands of Kalani at the 3. Campbell ball. Game virtually over.


8:03: A blantant pass-interference penalty against Titus Mokiao-Atimalala moves the ball to the Campbell 19. 43 seconds left in game.

8:00: Peter Manuma fumbles the pooch kick and Farrington’s Cheyne Pratt-Bernardes recovers. A personal foul on Campbell brings the ball all the way to the Sabers 34.

7:58: Tagataese scrambles and finds Kalani in the left corner of the end zone for a 40-yard touchdown. Tagataese’s 2-point conversion pass attempt fails. CAMPBELL 42, FARRINGTON 26, 1:01 left in game.

7:51: Lactaoen’s 14-yard run leads to Hipa’s 11-yard TD strike to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala. Arola kicks the extra point. CAMPBELL 42, FARRINGTON 20, 3:04 left in game.

7:46: Farrington gets to its 46, but then Campbell comes up strong with two sacks — one each by Taelase Gaoteote and (on fourth down) by JL Lavea. Campbell takes over on downs at the Farrington 25.

7:43: After three incompletions by Hipa, Arola’s 34-yard field goal attempt hits the left goalpost and comes straight back. No good. Less than 5 minutes to in game.

7:40: Lactaoen pushes forward for a 3-yard gain and a first down at the 40.

7:38: Campbell has a fourth down and 1 at the Farrington 43. Sabers call timeout.

7:33: Six plays later, Tagataese finds Millare in the left corner of the end zone all alone with a 29-yard TD pass. Tagataese then passes to Shoaf for the 2-point conversion. CAMPBELL 35, FARRINGTON 20, 6:43 left in game.

7:26: A Kalaola pass is intercepted by Farrington’s Wendell Alob. Govs ball at their 41.

7:22: Farrington goes three and out and punts.

7:21: Third quarter ends.

7:20: Kalaola is hit by Paleafei and Tanuvasa recovers for Farrington.

7:15: A Tagataese pass is intercepted by Campbell’s Peter Manuma and returned 23 yards to the Farrington 3.

7:12: Sabers punt.

7:11: A pass to Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala goes for no gain, but he his hit hard by Treshawn Kepa and appears to fumble. The Govs’ TJ Paleafei recovers and returns it for an apparent touchdown. But Mokiao-Atimalala is ruled down.

7:07: Kaniala Kalaola is in at QB on Campbell’s first drive of the second half.

7:02: Kalani takes a wildcat snap and scores a 1-yard TD. Farrington’s scoring drive covered 61 yards and took 6:41. Afe-Alaivanu’s 2-point conversion pass is picked off by Adkins-Kupukaa. CAMPBELL 35, FARRINGTON 12, 5:19 left in third quarter.

7:00: Tagataese scrambles 11 yards to the 2.

6:58: Govs get a first down at the Campbell 14, when a Saber jumps offside on a fourth and 4.

6:57: Tagataese’s pass Isaiah Rios covers 12 yards to the Sabers’ 25.

6:55: Farrington has a fourth down and 8 at the Campbell 37.

6:50: Govs take the second-half kickoff and are already at the 50.

6:30: Halftime.


6:26: Richard Tagataese is in at QB for the Govs. A 13-yard pass to Demetry Shoaf and a 9-yard Tagataese run pushes the ball to the Farrington 49. Govs call timeout with 1 second left in first half.

6:23: Two plays later, Hipa drops a snap, but the ball bounces off the field turf right back into his hands. A split-second bullet later, Adkins-Kupukaa becomes the recipient of a 16-yard TD pass. Arola kicks the extra point. CAMPBELL 35, FARRINGTON 6, 2:54 left in first half.

6:22: Millare fumbles and it is recovered by Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala at the Farrington 16.

6:18: After a Governors’ punt, the Sabers strike again. This time, Hipa throws an outside screen to Titus Mokiao-Atimalala, who follows two blockers for an initial surge and then does the rest himself for a 76-yard touchdown. Arola kciks the extra point. CAMPBELL 28, FARRINGTON 6, 3:26 left in first half.

6:11: On the next play, Lactaoen follows his blockers up the middle for a 7-yard touchdown. Arola kicks the extra point. CAMPBELL 21, FARRINGTON 6, 5:32 left in first half.

6:10: Four plays later, Hipa returns and throws a 21-yard dart to Jalen Henderson at the Farrington 7.

6:06: Senior Krenston Kaipo is in at QB for the Sabers.

6:01: Raymond Millare gets a pitch to the left side for a sweep. He cuts up at the right time and quick steps into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown. Afe-Alaivanu’s extra-point kick hits the left goal post and bounces straight back. No good. CAMBPELL 14, FARRINGTON 6, 7:26 left in first half.

5:58: Govs are driving. QB Chris Afe-Alaivanu scrambles 12 yards to the 4. After three more plays, it’s fourth and goal from the 1.

5:51: First quarter ends.

5:50: The Sabers stall and go back to punt, but fake a punt and it fails miserably as Tamatoa Mokiao-Atimalala, the up back, doesn’t handle the snap and the ball falls to the ground. He tries to make something out of it, but loses 28 yards. Farrington ball.

5:40: Adkins-Kupukaa takes a bounding ball at his 2-yard line and runs on a tightrope up the right sideline for 48 yards to the 50.

5:39: Running into kicker is called, a 5-yard penalty, but not enough for a first down.

5:38: Govs get a first down, but no more and punt for the second time. A penalty flag is on the field.

5:30: On a third-down play, Hipa fires a bullet to Adkins-Kupukaa at the 2-yard line, and Adkins-Kupukaa steps around a defender into the end zone. Arola kicks the extra point. CAMPBELL 14, FARRINGTON 0, 5:00 left in first quarter.

5:28: An 18-yard Hipa pass to Titus-Mokiao-Atimalala covers 18. Lactaoen runs twice for 17 yards. The Sabers are at the Farrington 15.

5:21: The Govs go three and out and into punt formation. Raymond Millare runs up the middle instead of punting and his stopped short of the first down. However, Farrington is called or delay of game and has to punt again.

5:13: Pokii Adkins-Kupukaa takes a short pass 27 yards. Sky Lactaoen runs three straight times, the last one a 17-yard touchdown. Jadon Arola kicks the extra point. CAMPBELL 7, FARRINGTON 0, 10:11 left in first quarter.

5:12: Blaine Hipa, a freshman, gets the start at QB.

5:09: Campbell wins the toss and elects to receive. Farrington chooses to defend the South end zone.
