GAME NIGHT 11/10: Saint Louis/Mililani

The main event of the evening at Aloha Stadium is a battle between No. 1 Saint Louis and No. 3 Mililani, which play for the first time since the 2015 state semifinals. The teams tried to play a game to start the 2016 season, but it was canceled when the lights went out.

Saint Louis drive starts on its 44 (10:42). Mililani gets its sixth sack of the night to force a punt. Cordeiro now with 529 passing yards.

Trojans start the fourth quarter second-and-5 at the Saint Louis 37. Apologies for the slight delay. Trying to figure out all of the records getting broken tonight. Gino Quinones sacks Gabriel. Trojans turn it over on downs.

Scottie Agasiva injured for Mililani. He can’t put any pressure on his right leg.

Saint Louis ball on its 25 (2:38). Perfect play call and THERE HE GOES AGAIN. Mitchell Quinn with a 59-yard TD on the screen. He has 8 receptions for 307 yards and 5 TD. 242 receiving yards and 4 TD in third quarter alone. He has broken Desmond Hanohano‘s school record and state tournament record by 1 yard in receiving yards.

Mililani starts from its 32 (4:55). Saint Louis called for roughing the passer and another unsportsmanlike for taunting. Another PI call on Saint Louis but the Crusaders hold on fourth down.

Saint Louis ball on its 20 (6:52). Saint Louis WR Mitchell Quinn (7 rec, 249 yards, 4 TD) is unstoppable 1-on-1. A 57-yard TD makes it 37-23. Cordeiro (21-25, 433 yards) has accounted for 535 total yards. 37-23 Crusaders, 5:03.

Mililani ball on its 35 (8:58). Saint Louis called for two holding penalties and then a taunting penalty. Gabriel with a couple of incomplete passes inside the 20 and Damien Santiago tries a 30-yard field goal but it is blocked.

Saint Louis drive starts on its 26 (9:38). Screen over the middle to Quinn who reverses field and is GONE. A 69-yard TD pass from Cordeiro gives Saint Louis the lead. Quinn 5 rec, 186 yards, 3 TD. Cordeiro 355 yards passing, 100 yards rushing. 30-23 Crusaders, 9:06.

Trojans go three-and-out as Botelho sacks Gabriel on third down.

Crusaders will receive. Drive starts on their 20. First pass is to a wide open Roman Wilson for 25 yards. Cordeiro to Quinn for a 50-yard TD. Touchdown Crusaders in less than a minute. PAT is blocked. 23-23.

Pass over the middle to Panoke who reaches for the goal line but he’s ruled down at the 1. Timeout Saint Louis with 4 seconds to go. What to do here? The offense will stay on the field. Cordeiro runs up the line and they try to sneak it and Mililani STUFFS IT. Halftime.

Mililani starts on its 20. (2:55). Third-and-1 and Gabriel picks up 29 on the keeper, weaving through the defense. Purcell nearly with a pick for Saint Louis and he would have house called that one. Big third-and-8. Rush forces an early throw and Mililani has to punt with 1:32 to go. No they will go for it. Fourth-and-8 at the Saint Louis 40. Gabriel pooch kicks it to the 7.

Crusaders drive starts from their 26 (3:41). 4 plays, 74 yards, 46 seconds. Cordeiro with a 39-yard pass to Panoke and then a 10-yard TD run. 23-17 Trojans, 2:55, Q2.

Mililani starts on its 30 (5:24). Big pass from Gabriel to Motoyama for 37 yards down the sideline. Saint Louis gives up a first down with a holding penalty and then Gabriel finds Reichel Vegas for a 25-yard TD. 5 plays, 70 yards, 1:35 is the drive. 23-10, 3:49.

Reichel Vegas with a 41-yard kick return to the 45 but I think he’s going to get whistled for taunting after looking at the Saint Louis side and giving them the falling asleep sign. Yup, that’s what it is.

Saint Louis starts on its 25 (9:03). Three straight completions to start the drive for Cordeiro. Ball across midifled as Mililani calls timeout. Cordeiro with an amazing scramble, spinning his way out of multiple sack attempts to pick up 40 down to the 8. Mykah Tuiolemotu and Tuivaiave-Olomua with sacks of Cordeiro to force a field goal. Tobias’ kick is good from 31 yards. 16-10, 5:33.

Mililani starts on its 20. (11:49). Gabriel hits Ryan Chang for 33 yards on Chang’s first catch and Chang again for 12. An offensive pass interference call makes its second-and-25 from the Saint Louis 27. Gabriel hits Cy Kuboyama-Hayashi for 15 and then a wide open Malepeai catches his second TD pass. 12-yard play. Mililani 16, Saint Louis 7, 9:09, Q2.

Quick pass to Quinn, who puts a spin move on the defender and is GONE. Speeds down the sideline for a 52-yard TD. 9-7, 11:49.

Saint Louis will start on its 36 (:44). Cordeiro scrambles for 11 yards to the 49 to end the first quarter.

Trojans start on their 29. (1:59). Tuitele blows up a running play to force third-and-long and Gabriel has a guy open on the double move but overthrows his receiver. Trojans punt.

Saint Louis will start at its 16 (3:46). Cordeiro finally gets a pass off and completes his first two throws for 17 yards. Asher Pilanca breaks up a third-down pass and Saint Louis will punt.

Mililani starts on its 39 (8:42). Trojans run it twice needing a yard for a first down and they will have to measure after RB Kilifi Malepeai‘s second try at it. Third-and-11 and Saint Louis sophomore LB Jordan Botelho is whistled for roughing the passer. Gabriel runs for 10 and then is incomplete. Saint Louis’ defensive line is giving Gabriel no time to throw. Third-and-6 and Saint Louis jumps early. Third-and-1. Jalen Tuivaiave-Olomua in the game at RB and pounds his way for 5 yards and 14 yards. Ball at the 4. Trojans call timeout with 4:41 in first quarter. Tuivaiave-Olomua runs for a yard. First-and-goal. Tuivaiave-Olomua stopped for a loss of 2. Play-action pass is a 5-yard TD from Gabriel to Malepeai. Trojans up 9-0, 3:55, Q1.

Saint Louis will start on its 9 (9:41). QB Chevan Cordeiro is sacked for a loss of 6 on first play. He has to scramble on next play and a holding penalty is called in the end zone. Safety. 2-0 Trojans. 8:51.

Mililani starts on its 25. Trojans bailed out on third-and-10 by a pass interference call on Saint Louis. Ball at the Crusaders 48. Faatui Tuitele makes his presence felt with a sack of Gabriel and it’s third-and-13. Gabriel 2-6, 16 yards on first drive as a hold wipes out a screen for a first down. Trojans punt.

Trojans win the toss and will receive.

    Somewhat of a slow start by SL, but great coaching adjustments at half by Cal & Ron Lee. Mahalo to Vincent Passas for developing the quarterback dynasty and for being so humble!
