Monarchs roster

Damien 30, Pac-Five 20, FINAL

7:10: The Monarchs run the clock out and win by a final score of 30-20.

7:07: Pac-Five’s onside kick is a yard short and the Monarchs will take over from the Wolfpack’s 29 with 2 minutes left.

7:05: SAFETY. Rapozo is sacked in the end zone and Damien extends its lead to 30-20 with 2:00 left.

7:03: On Pac-Five’s first play on the next possession, Rapozo is sacked for a two-yard loss before an injury timeout. 2:34 left.

7:02: HUGE. Pac-Five gets the stop it needs and Damien punts. The Wolfpack have 2:50 to tie things up with two timeouts left, but a nice punt has them pinned on their own 10.

6:59: The Monarchs have been milking the clock ever since getting the ball back, and Pac-Five calls its first timeout with 3:15 left. Damien faces third-and-23 when play resumes. Needless to say, a stop for the Wolfpack here would be huge.

6:52: The Wolfpack punt from Damien’s 42 on fourth down. The Monarchs will start deep in their own territory after getting pinned on their own 7, 7:18 to go.

6:48: The Wolfpack are now in Damien territory with a fresh set of downs on the Monarchs’ 42 with 7:50 to go.

6:45: Faufata-Pedrina is PICKED OFF by Cameron Dang and the Wolfpack have a chance to tie things up starting from their own 28 with 9:12 left in the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER

6:39: This is still anyone’s ballgame at the end of three.

6:34: HERE COME THE WOLFPACK. Bek finishes what he started with a 1-yard dive into the end zone. Fukuroda’s PAT is good and this is a one possession ballgame again. Damien leads 28-20 with 1:26 left in the third.

6:32: Nathan Bek‘s 20-yard rush has the Wolfpack on the shadow of Damien’s goal line with 2:18 left in the third before an injury timeout.

6:27: Three-and-out for Damien. Pac-Five looks to cut into the lead starting from Damien’s 47 with 4:13 left in the third.

6:24: Pac-Five picks up another first down and fails to gain anything else after that. After a P5 punt, Damien takes over from its own 22 with 5:48 left in the third.

6:19: Jarvis Natividad comes up with Damien’s second interception of the day but it doesn’t stand after a roughing the passer call. Pac-Five gets a fresh set of downs and new life from its own 35.

6:15: ANOTHER ONE FOR KEOUA KAUHI. Touchdown No. 3 of the day is a 65-yard scamper to the end zone, courtesy of his breakaway speed. Kaeo’s PAT is good and Damien extends its lead to 28-13 with 11:09 left in the third quarter.

6:12: Damien starts the second half from its own 30.

THIRD QUARTER

5:56: That’s the half. Both teams exchange possessions and both don’t threaten to score. Damien leads 21-13 at intermission and will receive to start the second half. If you’re Pac-Five, you gotta be feeling good about where the team is at this point in the game. This has the feeling of one of those games where the first five minutes of the second half will go a long way in deciding who takes this one.

5:46: TOUCHDOWN WOLFPACK. Rapozo and Uechi connect for touchdown No. 2 of the day, again from 30 yards out. Fukuroda’s PAT is blocked and the Damien lead is cut to 21-13 with 1:31 left in the half.

5:40: TOUCHDOWN MONARCHS. Keoua Kauhi takes a 57-yard pass from Marcus Faufata-Pedrina to the house. Kaeo’s PAT is good and the slow start feels like a distant memory for Damien, who leads 21-7 with 4:11 remaining in the first half.

5:34: Pac-Five is driving again, but a holding call puts the Wolfpack all the way back to their own 49 facing third-and-26. P5 can’t convert on third down so they punt. Damien starts its next drive on its own 12 with 6:14 left in the half.

5:22: DAMIEN’S IN THE LEAD. Matthew Faufata-Pedrina scoops up a fumble on Pac-Five’s first offensive play back and brings it 30 yards TO THE HOUSE. Kaeo’s PAT is good and just like that, Damien leads 14-7 with 9:09 left in the half.

5:20: TOUCHDOWN DAMIEN. Keoua Kauhi REFUSES to go down, breaking a handful of tackles on an 8-yard rushing score. Shiloh Kaeo‘s PAT is good and we’re all tied with 9:23 to go in the half.

5:16: Rapozo is PICKED by Kyle Kinney and the Monarchs take back over on the Pac-Five 42. Nice response there by the Damien defense, 11:01 left in the second quarter.

5:14: Damien goes for it on fourth down from the Pac-Five 28 and Logan Lauti is STUFFED on a run up the middle. Wolfpack take over from their own 31.

SECOND QUARTER

5:12: That’s the end of the first here at Aloha Stadium, with Pac-Five leading 7-0. Damien has the look of a team that might be looking ahead to its next matchup, but they close the first quarter on some big plays. The Monarchs will start the second facing third-and-3 on the P5 28.

5:11: HUGE play by Damien defensive back JT White, who takes a fumble all the way back to the P5 35 when the Wolfpack where threatening to double their lead.

5:02: Damien gains a first down but not much after. Gotta credit how spirited P5’s defense has come out of the gates. Wolfpack look to add on to their lead, starting from their own 24 with 5:09 left in the opening quarter.

4:58: TOUCHDOWN PAC-FIVE. On fourth-and-10, Cade Rapozo lobs one up to Jett Uechi, who snatches one in double coverage for a 30-yard score. Tyler Fukuroda‘s PAT is good and the Wolfpack have an early 7-0 lead with 7:48 left in the first.

4:54: FUMBLE DAMIEN. The Wolfpack fall on it and will start from the Damien 30 with 9:27 left in the first.

4:50: The Wolfpack gained eight yards on their first drive, but a false start nullifies the drive and they punt after a three-and-out. Damien will start its first drive from its own 18 with 10 minutes to go in the first quarter.

4:47: Wolfpack will start from their own 43 after a nice return.

4:45 p.m.: Pac-Five will receive to start things off.
