Football Tour: Waipahu

Tour stop: Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013

The Waipahu Marauders have some basic, key strengths in place.

Continuity under Eric Keola and his staff. A returning, seasoned quarterback in Kai Mercado-Aiona. Discipline. Aggression.

What they also have is an option attack, something Mercado-Aiona has studied and executed since he was a fifth-grader. When nobody else is running an offense like the option, it gets much harder to defend. In a wild OIA Red West, that could make a big difference.

For now, it’s early. Not a preseason game has been played yet by the Marauders. Time will tell.
