Hawaii, Tennessee offer Kapolei defensive end Maceal Afaese

At 6 feet, 5 inches and 260 pounds, Maceal Afaese usually stands out in a crowded room.

Afaese stood out a little more over the weekend at the Polynesian Bowl Showcase in Las Vegas. His performance earned him an invitation to the 2020 Polynesian Bowl.

Today, he received his first football scholarship offer from an SEC university: Tennessee. Later, he announced a scholarship offer from Hawaii to give him seven total: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon State, Kansas State and Tennessee. There is likely much more on the way after he showed versatility at the Showcase, particularly as a defensive end.

Afaese made an unofficial visit to USC in February.

Also receiving invitations to the Polynesian Bowl during the Showcase are Nofoafia Tulafono, Ioholani Raass, Kobah Fuamatu and Tai Marks.

Afaese is the highest-rated Kapolei recruit in the class of 2020 and one of seven players from Hawaii in the junior class with at least seven D-I offers.
