Life in the past eight days has not been the same for Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound junior has received 10 scholarship offers this offseason, and five of them have come since Feb. 11. The latest is from North Carolina. Campbell defeated Pearl City in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the girls state soccer tournament. The Sabers advanced to the semifinals with the 3-2 win and will face ‘Iolani. Mililani plays Konawaena in the other semifinal match at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Tia Furuta scored the winning goal in the 76th minute as Mililani beat Punahou 3-2 in the girls state soccer quarterfinals. Mililani will face Konawaena in Friday’s semifinals while Campbell will play ‘Iolani at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
It is bittersweet, this end to another girls basketball season. I still lament the change of seasons, when the girls went from having gyms to themselves in the spring time, moving into a crowded mess of facilities that the winter is.
