He’s been known to defer when it comes to media attention, but ‘Iolani junior Keoni-Kordell Makekau has emerged under the spotlight to become a true three-sport juggernaut. He chatted with Hawaii Prep World after another busy day on the track, winning the ILH championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.01 seconds. The 5-foot-11, 166-pound junior has football scholarship offers from Washington State and Hawaii. So far.

The defending state champion credited coach Linden Wada, a 2001 and 2002 state champion, for his team’s performance. Sean Fukuhara placed second (14-0) and Jonathan You tied for fourth (13-6).
