Baseball, volleyball standouts sign letters

Eight volleyball players and eight baseball players were among the signees at the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance letter-of-intent signing event this morning at Elks Lodge Waikiki. In all, 29 student-athletes signed letters, including record-breaking swimmer Jasmine Mau of Punahou. Here are the recommendations from the athletic directors’ conference on Kauai. The conference began on Thursday, ended Saturday and resulted in the following approved proposals. The road to a boys doubles championship in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu has often and almost always been paved through ‘Iolani or Punahou. This year, it went through the winding path of Kapalama Heights. Marcel Chan and Roman Kop brought Kamehameha its first boys doubles tennis title in about a decade, according to coach Jacob Lono.
