It’s always been common to see players on competing Hawaii teams act friendly toward one another, or even be good friends with players on other teams. Well, sportsmanship was taken to a new level in the boys and girls soccer state championships recently. In […]

MPI’s Ho: D-II state title and D-I prom invitation

By Nick Abramo on March 1, 2015

The second straight state Division II championship-match victory was sort of a formality for Brandon Ho. Asking his girlfriend to the prom was only a little riskier for the Mid-Pacific defender. It wasn’t like she was going to say no, but, hey, you never know, maybe she wouldn’t like the idea of him making a spectacle of it. No worries in the long run, however. Ho and Tiana Young-Mauchly, who have been dating for about 10 months, will be going […]

By Nick Abramo on March 1, 2015

Picture the Mililani boys soccer brain trust sitting down together, trying to figure out a way to score a goal. In one sense, it sounds funny because the Trojans usually don’t have problems scoring goals. But, in another sense, it’s as serious as can be. Everything was on the line on Saturday as the Trojans went up against fierce OIA rival Kalani in the Division I state final. The last time the two teams met, Mililani was fortunate to score […]

Stafford, Cunningham: soccer swashbucklers

By Nick Abramo on February 28, 2015

By now, everybody in the Hawaii soccer world knows that Kalani senior goalkeeper Michael Stafford was the man who kept the Falcons alive on Friday night. But what some people who did not attend the game or watch it on OC 16 might not know […]
