By Nick Abramo on January 25, 2016

Saint Louis offensive lineman Nate Herbig is probably going to wait until the Feb. 3 signing day to choose which school he will commit to. On Monday, Herbig told Hawaii Prep World that it’s between two schools — Cal and Stanford. He recently visited both campuses. “I have a lot to think about,” Herbig said. “Cal is going in the right direction and they’re gonna be good. It’s hard to compete with Stanford, in the top three (No. 3 in the […]

Kahuku’s Anae in process of making visits

By Nick Abramo on January 24, 2016

It’s possible Kahuku defensive end Bradlee Anae could go where Red Raiders head coach Vavae Tata last worked as an assistant. That’s Vanderbilt in Nashville. Anae, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder who was a large force in Kahuku’s run to the Division I state championship in 2015, was making his visit at Oregon State on Saturday when Hawaii Prep World contacted him. Last week, Anae took an official visit to Vanderbilt. “Vanderbilt has elite academics and it’s in the SEC and that’s […]

As Oregon’s OC, UCF’s Frost recruited Milton

By Nick Abramo on January 23, 2016

Think about this: it wasn’t out of the blue that McKenzie Milton decided to commit to the University of Central Florida. He will be playing for Scott Frost, the new head coach for the Knights who spent the last three seasons as the Oregon offensive coordinator. Makes a lot more sense now. Frost will be installing the Oregon style of spread offense at UCF. He worked with Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, who is now with the Tennessee Titans and […]

USC and other top colleges watch Tagovailoa

By Nick Abramo on January 22, 2016

Saint Louis quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been practicing for a 7-on-7 passing tournament. Good thing he’s active at this time because some college suitors came to watch him practice over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. Assistant coaches from USC and UCLA came to the Crusaders’ field on Monday to watch him throw, according to Tua’s father, Galu Tagovailoa. Because he’s still a junior, college coaches aren’t allowed at this time to talk to Tagovailoa or his family directly. […]

By Hawaii Prep World on January 20, 2016

Mililani senior McKenzie Milton announced on Twitter Wednesday that he has decommitted from Hawaii and will instead sign with Central Florida. “After a long tough process I’ve found in my heart that is best for me to decommit from UH,” Milton wrote on Twitter. “This fall I will be attending The University of Central Florida! Thank you for all the love and support God bless!” Milton was the 2014 Honolulu Star-Advertiser offensive player of the year after leading the Trojans […]

University of Hawaii football defensive coordinator and Kevin Lempa and defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa went to Leilehua’s wrestling practice last week to reconfirm the school’s interest in Mules defensive lineman Netane Muti. Muti, who was recruited by former UH head coach Norm Chow, previously gave his oral commitment to Hawaii. “The new staff (under new head coach Nick Rolovich) came to meet me,” Muti said. The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder, who went both ways in high school, is being looked at […]

Taulapapa opens up recruiting

By Billy Hull on December 30, 2015

Punahou senior Wayne Taulapapa is back on the recruiting market. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back wrote on Twitter Wednesday that he is no longer committed to BYU after a recent coaching change. Former Cougars coach Bronco Mendenhall took the head job at Virginia and was replaced last week by Kalani Sitake. “With something new comes change,” Taulapapa wrote on Twitter. “I am decommitted from BYU and have re opened my recruitment. I trust that God has a plan.” Taulapapa won […]
