Pflueger, Manson lead Punahou in paddling

Saturday’s six-man race at the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA State Canoe Paddling Championships won’t faze Punahou’s Aukai Manson and Hunter Pflueger one bit. Punahou sweeps ILH paddling

The Punahou boys canoe paddling team earned a chance at history on Tuesday. The Buffanblu beat Kamehameha in a make-up race from week three, officially securing the ILH championship with 36 points to Kamehameha’s 24 and Mid-Pacific’s 15. Kamehameha mixed crew earns first win

Kamehameha’s mixed crew in ILH canoe paddling beat Punahou for the first time of the season on Saturday, winning the race by 13 seconds. Punahou won the first three races of the season and leads the standings 22-14 with Iolani and and Mid-Pacific tied for third with 12. There is only one race left in the ILH season. Takakusagi, Hines receive NIAAA scholarships

Melia Takakusagi and Raymond Hines were awarded National Interscholastic Athletic Administators Association scholarships at the recent Hawaii Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association conference at the Hilton Waikoloa Villiage earlier this month. Takakusagi participates in air riflery for Waimea and Hines is a water polo player and paddler for Mid-Pacific.
