Breaking the ice: Jarrin Kalama’s long journey yields offer from BYU

By Paul Honda on December 25, 2020

The day Jarrin Kalama boarded a plane and headed to the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, all there was to hold on to was hope. More than hope. Waiting for him was an uncle. Auntie. Cousins. All bunched together in a house, in a town called Heber City. It is 21 degrees there right now. Back in July, however, Kalama was on that plane, a Mililani junior transferring to Wasatch High School. New town. New friends. New culture. New teammates. New […]

Mililani looks to jump-start offense for states

By Brian McInnis on October 27, 2019

Any moments of offensive rhythm between Mililani and Kahuku on Saturday night were like visits from a long-lost friend who couldn’t stay around to chat and catch up. Kahuku got the better of a rock fight at Aloha Stadium, prevailing 7-3 to claim its 27th OIA championship and deny Mililani a repeat Open Division title and a fifth overall under coach Rod York. The night started for Mililani with a clanged field-goal attempt off the left upright and didn’t get […]
