Kailua was in full control of its destiny entering its senior night contest with Castle. After a 26-21 come-from-behind win over the Knights, the Surfriders are now playoff bound. The road to get one of the four spots in the OIA Division I playoffs wasn’t easy, especially on Saturday night. Kailua drew first blood, but Damien rallied behind sophomore quarterback Logan Lacio, reliable wide receiver Jarvis Natividad and running back Amo Sulu for a 28-12 win at Aloha Stadium on Friday night. Sulu rushed for 184 yards and a TD on 29 carries for Damien, which remains one game behind ‘Iolani in the ILH Division I standings.

Kailua entered a critical juncture of its season heading into Friday’s home matchup against visiting Buckeye Union from Arizona. The Surfriders were 1-4 heading into the game, and without much intel on the Hawks since they were an out-of-state opponent, coach Joseph Wong just wanted his players to focus on buying in as a team.
