Kahuku’s Alos share title at Aiea

The Alo girls of Kahuku cleaned out their group at the Aiea Invitational on Saturday. Sisters Jocelyn Alo and Sabrina Alo were placed in the same pool (184.9-206 pounds) at the preseason event, and started their first matches at the same time on side-by-side mats. Jocelyn drew Aiea’s Sarah Miner while Sabrina faced Waianae’s Mildred Keopuhiwa, who was fifth at states last year. Stadium expects big crowd for title games

Aloha Stadium is expecting a large crowd for Friday’s state championship football games, urging fans to get their tickets early. Iolani and Lahainaluna will kick off at 4:30 p.m., followed by Mililani and Punahou. The Stadium’s media relations department sent out a release on Thursday saying they expect to exceed 25,000 paying customers, beating the 20,934 who watched the games last year. A dozen volleyball players were among nearly three dozen student-athletes who signed their letters of intent early Wednesday morning at the Elks Lodge in Waikiki. The event, hosted each signing season by Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance (PIAA), featured a multitude of sports for the fall signing period.
