Castle’s Lewis recovering from concussion

Castle football player Keola Lewis, who was taken to a hospital on a stretcher during Saturday’s game against Campbell at Aloha Stadium, is recovering from a concussion and neck strain, according to Knights coach Nelson Maeda. “Good news,” Maeda texted Hawaii Prep World. “Not to trivialize it, but (the injury) looked worse than what was (eventually) diagnosed.” Lewis, a 5-foot-6, 130-pound junior slotback and defensive back, was hurt on a Campbell kickoff return and was attended to on the field […]

Moore, Kamehameha surf capture nationals

The Kamehameha surf team successfully defended its title over the weekend at the NSSA National Interscholastic Championships at Dana Point, Calif. Cayla Moore, a senior for the Warriors’ club team, defended her national shortboard title, and senior Imaikalani Devault finished in fourth place in the men’s shortboard.   The 33rd annual Hall of Honor banquet felt a lot like a family reunion. Neil Everett, last year’s speaker, made an appearance via video to surprise Hawaii News Now’s Fran Weems, this year’s featured speaker. Weems had been inducted a decade before. This might be the golden age of high school swimming. Kanoa Kaleoaloha will be the fifth swimmer in the last three years inducted into the Enterprise / HHSAA Hall of Honor at Dole Cannery Square’s Pomaikai Ballroom on June 7. He will be inducted with Mid-Pacific’s Lena Hayakawa, the second straight year multiple swimmers have been inducted. Ian Kahaloa has raised the bar for baseball players in Hawaii. A year after Jordan Yamamoto of Saint Louis and Kodi Medeiros of Waiakea thrilled scouts and fans at the state baseball tournament, Kahaloa has earned something that neither of the professional pitchers has.
