By Hawaii Prep World on September 5, 2009

By Paul Honda The DNA is encoded into Kahuku football. There were occasional variations in years past, but when it comes down to it, Red Raider football is about controlling the line of scrimmage. Down 6-3 against a formidable Roosevelt defense, coach Reggie Torres and offensive coordinator Walter Santiago made a sea change. After passing in eight of its first 18 plays from scrimmage, Kahuku ran on 40 of the last 46 plays. A 38-12 win doesn’t tell the tale […]

A 55-yard touchdown jaunt by Tyrone Brown and a 65-yard bomb from Evan Moe to Shairone Thompson broke the game open in the second half for Kahuku (4-0), which improved to 2-0 in the Oahu Interscholastic […]

No. 3 Kahuku 24, No. 3 Punahou 14, final Though the Red Raiders continue to unveil new looks — pistol and spread formations with four receivers — the philosophy hasn’t strayed far from its roots. Kahuku ran the ball on 20 of 29 first-half plays from scrimmage, with Galeai Malufau carrying 12 times for 22 yards. Punahou’s defense was stingy on the ground, but Kahuku quarterback Evan Moe found the passing lanes to his liking. Kahuku scored on its first […]
