Waianae-Kealakehe bonus coverage

By Jerry Campany on November 13, 2010

“Bonus coverage” as in some extra paragraphs of my story on Waianae’s 34-16 win over Kealakehe. We didn’t have quite enough space in print for all my stuff, so here it is. > > > Waianae’s offense was still hot when it got the ball back a minute later after a Kealakehe four and out. The Seariders drove 80 yards in just six plays as Wilson found Brian Paul Manuel on a 28-yard gain, and later hit Kamana on a quick […]

Sunny skies in Lihue (updated 2:20 pm)

By Jerry Campany on November 13, 2010

LIHUE — Warm, breezy, picturesque. Getting here was smooth. Even the airport back in Honolulu eased everyone’s stress level by adding another checkpoint line. End of the road: Kahuku injunction denied

By Paul Honda on November 9, 2010

It’s over. As of 1 p.m. this afternoon, Judge Karl Sakamoto deliberated after 4 1/2 hours of testimony rejected Kahuku’s injunction against the OIA, HHSAA and DOE state superintendent. It wasn’t a shock or even a surprise considering the precedent of ineligiblity-related forfeitures over the years. Still, even Sakamoto and OIA attorney Lyle Hosoda expressed sympathy for the plight of Kahuku’s football players, who were caught in the crossfire when adults on one side (OIA) ruled that adults on the […]
