Examining the numbers

By Paul Honda on November 30, 2012

The Star-Advertiser Football All-State ballot was sent out earlier in the week, creating a little wrinkle of stress for all coaches and media involved with the voting process. It’s not easy, not if you (the voter) fill out the entire ballot. Example: I always ask for 15 offensive linemen in ranked order. Nobody I know enjoys doing that. Well, nobody except a few diehard footballholics (coaches). So, below you can find the statistics of a ton of players along with […]

By Paul Honda on November 24, 2012

Statting that play isn’t so simple unless you’ve memorized the latest football statisticians’ manual. Check out Section 3 (Forward Passing), Article 2. Cool stuff. Game Day: ‘Iolani-Lahainaluna (updated 7:30 pm)

By Paul Honda on November 23, 2012

First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA State Football Championships 3:15 p.m. What’s a little thunder, anyway? We’re less than an hour from kickoff and the dark gray clouds have rolled in. Forecast this weekend is wet skies, but I was still a little stunned. I got to the parking lot here at Aloha Stadium, started walking to the entrance, BIG drops fell from the sky. Crescendo. Then the downpour. Some thunder emanating from the Central Oahu plains. THen the rains slowed up and […]
