Pohai Lee close to becoming Baldwin coach

It’s not official, but former Damien athletic director and Kaiser football assistant Pohai Lee is likely to become the next Baldwin football coach, sources told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and Hawaii Prep World on Thursday. Malepeai’s 18th offer: Utah

Mililani running back Vavae Malepeai received his 18th FBS scholarship offer today: Utah. The 6-foot, 200-pound junior is heralded by his coaches for a dedicated work ethic. He last received offers on May 18 and 19 from USC and Oregon, respectively. Unlike many of his peers, Malepeai doesn’t post much information about his offers. Liberty Patriots to play Saint Louis, Mililani

Liberty High School of Henderson, Nev., will play two Hawaii football powerhouses, Mililani and Saint Louis, on consecutive weeks in the upcoming season. The Patriots, who went 10-3 and lost to Bishop Gorman in the Nevada Division I state semifinals a year ago, will play Saint Louis at Aloha Stadium on Aug. 29. The start time is TBA. Texas made a football scholarship offer to Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise this morning. The Longhorns are the 39th FBS school to offer the 6-foot-4, 305-pound junior. Manaia Perese, a 6-foot-3, 277-poud defensive lineman and a 2013 Mililani graduate, has been offered scholarships to play football at Kansas and Tulsa, according 247sports.com and his high school coach Rod York.
