Kaiser’s Eletise to make commitment tonight

Highly recruited Kaiser offensive tackle Michael Eletise will announce his college commitment today on the KHON2-TV 6 p.m. news, according to the station’s website. Various sites reported on July 22 that Eletise had picked the July 27 target date for making his choice. Previously, Eletise trimmed his 41 FBS Division I choices down to three, but he hasn’t revealed them. His final five choices are Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Washington. Kealakehe’s Fangupo commits to Utah

Kealakehe alumnus David Fangupo gave an oral commitment to play football at Utah in 2016, according to a report on BigIslandNow.com Fangupo, who is 6 feet 2 and 325 pounds, was a two-way lineman and a fullback for the Waveriders. He was a two-time All-Big Island Interscholastic Federation first-team selection and played one season at Cerritos College. Tagovailoa headlines ‘Hawaii 7s’ tourney

Some of the state’s top skill-position college prospects, including Saint Louis quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Kahuku defensive back Keala Santiago, will play in the Hawaii 7s this weekend at Aiea High School field. The 7-on-7 pass-league style tournament has eight teams from Oahu and the Big Island. Darren Johnson, former head football coach at Kailua, is coordinating the two-day event. Pac-Five’s Brennan takes Japan recruiting trip

Pac-Five receiver Tsubasa Brennan received a football scholarship offer from Nihon University in Japan, according to his dad, Brendan Brennan. Brennan, who is on a recruiting trip to Japan, is also drawing interest from Kwansei Gakuin University, the country’s national champion, Keio, Waseda, Ritsumeikan and Kansai, Brendan Brennan said. Tsubasa Brennan made 88 catches for 1,160 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight games for the Wolfpack last season. He finished with 1,965 career receiving yards.

A pair of Saint Louis teammates landed in Scout.com’s top 300 recruiting rankings for 2017 released on Wednesday. Crusaders quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who holds at least 15 known offers already, is ranked No. 124 overall and 12th among players at his position. The lefty-throwing junior-to-be, listed at 6-1, 216 pounds, burst onto the scene last season as a sophomore, winning the starting quarterback job just a few games into the season. Kamehameha defensive end Alema Kapoi is among three high school football players to be offered FBS Division I scholarships recently, according to Scout.com. Kapoi, a senior-to-be this fall, is a 6-foot, 265-pound defensive end, and he was offered a scholarship by Army. Two juniors-to-be — Kahuku running back Kesi Ah-Hoy and Leilehua safety Charles Watson — were also offered scholarships.
