By Billy Hull on September 19, 2015

With his star running back, senior Jensen McDaniel, getting swallowed up in the second half by the Castle defensive line, Kaiser coach Cameron Higgins changed things up. Or as he put it, “you just try to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.” Cameron put his younger brother, Parker Higgins, a senior at Kaiser, at running back alongside McDaniel and Parker came up big, sealing the game with a 31-yard touchdown run and then adding a 65-yard run […]

By Billy Hull on September 18, 2015

Kahuku and Waianae enter the weekend undefeated in the OIA Red while every other team has at least two losses with three weeks to go. However, the Red Raiders and Seariders haven’t both locked up the first-round bye in the OIA playoffs just yet. After starting 0-3, Kaiser nearly controls its own destiny. The Cougars could sneak into one of the top two spots if they win out and Waianae loses to Kahuku. Up first is a Castle team that […]

Head coach Kelii Pio Adams confirmed Friday afternoon that the team — at a meeting with players, parents, coaches and administrators Thursday night – has decided to forfeit the remaining games on its schedule due to having just 13 healthy players on the roster. Despite the unfortunate turn of […]

Quick reads: When homecoming never ends

By Jerry Campany on September 18, 2015

Star-Advertiser columnist Dave Reardon wrote a blog post over on hawaiiwarriorworld.com addressing Thursday night’s prep football marathon between Mililani and Farrington that started at 8:38 p.m. and ended at midnight on a school night. Presumably, that set up a tough day of school on Friday for all high school students involved, between players, cheerleaders and the band. Not to mention practice after the bell finally does ring to end the school day. Reardon talked to Oahu Interscholastic Association executive director […]

Crusaders’ Tagovailoa to get some rest today

By Nick Abramo on September 18, 2015

Saint Louis junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will not start today’s game againt ‘Iolani, head coach Cal Lee told Hawaii Prep World this afternoon. Tagovailoa sprained his right calf in last Saturday’s 31-27 victory over Kamehameha and was day-to-day for most of the week. The move is a precautionary one, Lee said. “Tua says he’s fine and he practiced some,” Lee said. “But we didn’t want him running full speed and planting. He’ll play (against ‘Iolani) if we need him; if […]
