Aiea’s Kuia recognized as school record holder

By Billy Hull on September 23, 2015

For two days, Aiea senior Kobe Kato was thought to be the single-game record holder for Na Alii in passing after his 394-yard performance in a 46-30 loss to Campbell on Saturday. It got the attention of a reader who remembered Kali Kuia, who quarterbacked Aiea from 2003 to ’05, throwing for more than 400 yards in a game. Turns out, the reader was right. There was a discrepancy in stats listed in both the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin […]

St. Francis did a 180-degree turn in second half

By Nick Abramo on September 22, 2015

Flat, unenergetic, languid. Pick one of those words or use your own to describe St. Francis’ first-half performance in a 21-6 loss to Damien last Saturday at Roosevelt’s Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium. The Saints were outplayed in the first 24 minutes, and that’s as simple as it gets. But after the break, St. Francis (2-4, 0-2 ILH Division II) came out with fire and conviction. Destin Pakele was front and center in the turnaround for the Saints, who trailed 21-0 at […]
