‘Iolani senior receiver Keoni-Kordell Makekau left last Friday’s 35-23 loss to Punahou early in the first quarter with a shoulder injury and is “day-to-day” according to ‘Iolani coach Wendell Look. Makekau was on the receiving end of the first two completed passes thrown by quarterback Tai-John Mizutani when he took a hit near the ‘Iolani sideline to his shoulder. He left the game and had his pads off by the second quarter and didn’t return. Makekau currently leads the ILH […]
After holding Waianae to negative yardage through three quarters in a statement 30-0 win on Saturday at Aloha Stadium, the OIA Red champion Kahuku Red Raiders have leapfrogged defending state champion Mililani by a single point into the third spot in the latest Honolulu Star-Advertiser Top 10 released Monday. With the win, Farrington secured second place in the OIA Blue and a bye in the first round of the OIA Division I playoffs. FIRST QUARTER Huuuge break for Waianae, recovering what was an pouchy (PK Tate Ebel with the recovery), but quick moving on-side kick. Brilliant. But then after getting the ball in its territory, they run, run, run and punt. I was hoping they’d go for a […]

Mililani’s starting running back often gains yardage because of an offensive line that has played at an elite level dating back well before his first start as a sophomore in 2013. Malepeai does a lot of genius work between the tackles, as well, blasting through creases and canyons at the point of attack. Defenders unwilling to get into a low base are usually knocked over by Malepeai’s power. […]
